ARTIST STATEMENT

The practice of Bonsai is the restriction of a plant’s growth for a different kind of beauty. Choosing to return from Berlin after eight years to help care for my mum, who is declining with dementia, felt limiting. However, by embracing this set of restrictions, making choice after choice to balance dedication to my arts practice and caring for my mum, I am blossoming. This series of painting of Bonsai found at Canberra’s Arboretum and the indoor and outdoor gardens of friends and family.

It is a celebration of the will to find a way.
